Whereas the catalogue of composer Sébastien Gaxie (1977) has long attested to his attraction for theatrical dramaturgy and composition based on the spoken voice, the extremely brilliant stage director Volodia Serre (1978) has always paid quite particular attention to music and the symbolic force of singing in each of his productions. With Pierre Roullier, the three partners wanted to federate their energies around Dostoyevsky, imagining a pluridisciplinary electronic opera based on his novella The Dream of a Ridiculous Man. Wearied of the world, diverted from the final act by the fortuitous encounter with a little girl, a man falls into a deep sleep. His dream leads him to a utopian universe, double of Earth, a world where men live well, free and happy, a world that, despite himself, he will do his utmost to pervert.
