Two of today's most important composers have been in residence with 2e2m: the Jordanian Saed Haddad (1972) in 2013 and the Lebanese Zad Moultaka this season. Although their approaches are singular, both question the roots of their cultures, be they literary, philosophical or musical, carrying on a dialogue with the European musical modernity that asserted itself in the latter half of the 20th century. Rethinking the past whilst maintaining a tension on a shared modernity could be the best introduction to their spellbinding, poetic universes.
